Introduction

“There are road trips… and then there are winter expeditions through the Himalayas.
As snowfall blankets the mountains in white and temperatures plunge far below freezing, the remote valleys of Kinnaur and Spiti transform into a surreal winter wonderland untouched by the chaos of the modern world. Frozen rivers, snow-covered monasteries, icy mountain roads, dramatic landscapes, and silent Himalayan villages create an experience that feels almost otherworldly.
Our Winter Snow Drive is designed for those who seek something beyond ordinary travel — a carefully curated premium overland experience combining adventure, exclusivity, luxury, and the raw beauty of the Himalayas in winter.
With only 10 4×4 SUVs forming the convoy, this expedition remains intimate and exclusive. Every detail has been thoughtfully planned to ensure that even amidst temperatures dropping to -20°C, participants experience warmth, comfort, safety, and unforgettable hospitality.
From premium stays and hot running water to comforting meals after long snow drives, this journey is proof that adventure and luxury can coexist beautifully.”

Day-Wise Itinerary

Day 1 – Arrival in Theog: Welcome to the Winter Himalayas

Your Himalayan winter adventure begins in the charming mountain region of Theog, nestled amidst cedar forests and snow-covered peaks just beyond Shimla.

As participants arrive and the convoy assembles, the excitement of the expedition begins to build. Crisp mountain air, frozen landscapes, and the sight of snow-dusted Himalayan ridges create the perfect introduction to the journey ahead.

Guests check into the luxurious Radisson Kufri, where warmth, comfort, and premium hospitality await. The evening is reserved for expedition briefings, vehicle inspections, introductions, and a cozy welcome dinner beside the warmth of the mountains.

Tonight marks the beginning of an unforgettable winter expedition into the frozen valleys of Spiti.

Day 2 – Theog to Kalpa: Along the Frozen Sutlej

After breakfast, the convoy rolls out into the heart of Himachal Pradesh as we begin our journey towards the stunning village of Kalpa.

The drive today follows the mighty Sutlej River through dramatic mountain terrain, deep valleys, pine forests, and snow-covered cliffs. As altitude increases, the landscapes become increasingly raw and cinematic.

Upon arrival in Kalpa, guests are welcomed by breathtaking panoramic views of the mighty Kinner Kailash range standing tall against the winter sky.

Our stay tonight is at the elegant The Grand Shambhala, a premium mountain retreat offering warm hospitality, delicious meals, and spectacular Himalayan views despite the freezing temperatures outside.

As night falls and temperatures dip well below freezing, the comfort of a warm room overlooking snow-covered peaks becomes an experience in itself.

Day 3 – Kalpa to Kaza: Into the Frozen Desert of Spiti

Today’s drive is where the adventure truly begins.

Leaving Kinnaur behind, we venture deeper into the high-altitude cold desert of Spiti Valley — a region that becomes even more magical and dramatic during winter. Snow-covered roads, icy mountain passes, frozen streams, and barren Himalayan landscapes create an unforgettable driving experience.

As the convoy traverses, villages appear frozen in time, monasteries stand silently amidst snow-covered cliffs, and the vastness of Spiti begins to unfold around us.

By evening, we arrive in Kaza, the heart of Spiti Valley.

Despite outside temperatures often touching -20°C, guests can relax in the warmth and comfort of carefully selected premium properties like The Sakya Abode and Dewachan Retreat, both offering heated accommodations, hot running water, warm meals, and cozy hospitality amidst one of the harshest winter environments in India.
