Day 2 – From Manali to Jispa: Conquer Rohtang La

Awaken to a glorious Manali morning and fuel up with a delectable breakfast before setting off on our adventure at 10 a.m. sharp. Today, we conquer the first and gentlest pass of our journey, the legendary Rohtang La. Leaving civilization behind, we ascend through the towering pines of Palchan towards the majestic pass standing proudly at over 13,000 feet.

Crossing Rohtang feels like stepping into another world entirely — dramatic landscapes, glacial streams, barren mountains, and vast Himalayan expanses begin to unfold before us. Descending into the rugged terrain of Lahaul Valley, we pause at Koksar for hot chai amidst the mountains before continuing towards Sissu, our lunch halt for the day.

Post lunch, the journey continues along pristine roads maintained by the BRO, with the mighty Chenab River flowing beside us and golden poplar trees painting the valley in vibrant colours. By evening, we arrive at the tranquil village of Jispa, a hidden Himalayan retreat resting quietly beside the Bhaga River.

Day 3 – Jispa to Leh: Through the Heart of the Himalayas

Today marks one of the most iconic drives of the expedition — a day where every kilometre feels cinematic. We begin early, crossing the surreal landscapes of the high Himalayas as we ascend towards Baralacha La, one of the most dramatic mountain passes of the region.

The scenery transforms rapidly as we drive through the wild beauty of Sarchu and the legendary Gata Loops before reaching the vast plains of Morey Plains — an endless high-altitude desert where the horizon seems infinite. The drive becomes even more exhilarating as we conquer Tanglang La, among the highest motorable passes in the world.

As we descend into Leh, signs of civilization slowly reappear, bringing with them the rich culture and heritage of Ladakh. The evening is yours to relax and acclimatize in absolute comfort at one of Ladakh’s finest luxury properties.

Overnight Stay:

Day 4 – Leh Local Exploration: Monasteries & Indulgence

Today is dedicated to relaxation, acclimatization, and experiencing the spiritual soul of Ladakh. After a leisurely breakfast, we drive to the magnificent Thiksey Monastery — a stunning hilltop monastery often compared to the Potala Palace of Tibet.

The monastery offers breathtaking panoramic views of the Indus Valley, serene prayer halls, ancient Buddhist art, and an atmosphere of complete tranquility. As monks chant prayers amidst fluttering prayer flags, one truly begins to feel the mystical energy of Ladakh.

Post exploration, we indulge in an exquisite luxury lunch experience at Hotel Ladakh Sarai, surrounded by spectacular Himalayan landscapes and warm Ladakhi hospitality.

Post lunch there is an optional visit to the famous Hemis Monastery founded in 1672 AD.

The rest of the evening can be spent relaxing, exploring Leh market, or enjoying the comforts of the hotel.

Day 5 – Leh to Nubra Valley: Across the Legendary Khardung La

The convoy rolls out towards one of the most thrilling routes in Ladakh as we ascend to the mighty Khardung La — among the world’s highest motorable roads. The air gets thinner, the mountains grow taller, and every turn reveals views more dramatic than the last.

After crossing the pass, we descend into the enchanting Nubra Valley — famously known as the Valley of Flowers. A stunning contrast to the barren mountains around it, Nubra surprises travellers with lush villages, silver rivers, apricot orchards, and rolling sand dunes.

As evening approaches, we arrive at our luxurious retreat nestled amidst the beauty of Nubra Valley. Relax, unwind, and absorb the serenity of this magical Himalayan paradise.

Overnight Stay:
The Stone Hedge, Nubra Valley

Day 6 – Nubra to Turtuk and Back: The Last Village Experience

Today we embark on one of the most unique experiences of the expedition as we drive towards Turtuk — a remote Himalayan village located close to the Indo-Pak border and opened to tourism only recently.

Unlike anywhere else in Ladakh, Turtuk introduces travellers to the rich Balti culture, ancient traditions, lush green fields, wooden homes, and warm local hospitality. Surrounded by snow-capped peaks and nourished by glacial rivers, this hidden paradise feels untouched by time.

Spend the day exploring narrow village lanes, interacting with locals, tasting traditional Balti cuisine, and witnessing a completely different side of Ladakh before returning to Nubra by evening.

Day 7 – Nubra to Pangong Tso: Into the Blue Wilderness

Today’s journey takes us through some of Ladakh’s most rugged and untouched terrain as we travel towards the legendary Pangong Tso. Crossing dramatic mountain landscapes, remote villages, and high-altitude roads, the anticipation builds with every passing hour.

And then suddenly — Pangong appears.

Stretching endlessly across the mountains, the lake mesmerizes with its surreal shades of blue, changing colours with every movement of the sun. Located at over 14,000 feet, Pangong Tso is not merely a destination; it is an emotion.

To make this moment even more unforgettable, a lavish lakeside lunch experience awaits the group, allowing you to indulge amidst one of the most spectacular settings on Earth.

As evening falls, witness the magical transformation of the lake under the golden Himalayan sunset.

Day 8 – Pangong to Leh: Return Through Chang La

Wake up to the serene beauty of Pangong Tso before beginning our return journey towards Leh. The route takes us across Chang La, another iconic high-altitude mountain pass surrounded by dramatic Himalayan vistas.

The drive offers endless photography opportunities — winding mountain roads, frozen streams, grazing yaks, and prayer flags dancing in the wind. Upon arrival in Leh, enjoy a relaxed evening at leisure, perfect for shopping, café hopping, or simply unwinding after days of adventure.

Day 9 – Leh to Kargil: Following the Legacy of the Himalayas

Our journey continues westward as we drive towards Kargil, traversing roads steeped in history and surrounded by mesmerizing landscapes. Along the way, we witness changing terrain, ancient monasteries perched dramatically on cliffs, and villages that appear frozen in time.

The drive through the rugged mountains of Ladakh is both humbling and exhilarating. Kargil, known for its resilience and significance, welcomes us with warm hospitality and a slower pace of life.

Spend the evening relaxing and preparing for the next phase of the expedition — the breathtaking route into the remote Zanskar Valley.

Overnight Stay:

Day 10 – Kargil to Padum: Into the Untamed Zanskar Valley

Today we venture deep into one of the most remote and spectacular regions of the Indian Himalayas — Zanskar. The road to Padum is nothing short of legendary, featuring dramatic cliffs, pristine rivers, towering mountains, and isolated landscapes that few travellers ever witness.

This is pure overlanding at its finest.

The route tests both machine and driver while rewarding us with scenery so raw and untouched that it feels almost unreal. Crossing remote settlements and winding through mighty valleys, we finally arrive at Padum — the heart of Zanskar.

Tonight, under a sky overflowing with stars, you’ll truly understand what it means to disconnect from the world and reconnect with nature.

Day 11 – Padum to Jispa: The Grand Himalayan Traverse

One final adventure awaits as we undertake one of the most thrilling drives of the entire expedition. Traversing newly opened roads connecting Zanskar to Lahaul, today’s route showcases nature in its wildest and most dramatic form.

Towering rock faces, glacial rivers, narrow mountain roads, and untouched valleys create an unforgettable driving experience reserved for true adventurers. Every turn presents postcard-worthy scenery, especially driving in front of the mighty and sacred Gonboronjan Mountain that feels almost cinematic.

Then before we make our final descent towards Darcha. We will drive over the Shinkhula Pass set at an altitude of staggering 16,400 feet.

By evening, we arrive back in Jispa, where comfort, warmth, and celebration await after an epic day behind the wheel.

Before reaching Manali, we stop for a specially curated premium open barbeque lunch experience at Ride Inn Cafe — a perfect celebration of the incredible journey we have shared together.
